Polycystic ovary syndrome is composed of three subgroups based upon symptoms/signs, biochemistry and view of ovary.
GROUP-A
GROUP-A1
-Symptoms of hyperandrogenism (Excessive hair growth, Acne, Alopecia) and/or Increased male hormone (androgen) levels in blood,
-Egg development (folliculogenesis) is paused which results in menstrual bleeding delays and termination
-View of polycystic ovary on ultrasound scan.
GROUP-A2
-Symptoms of hyperandrogenism (Excessive hair growth, Acne, Alopecia) and/or Increased male hormone (androgen) levels in blood,
-Egg development (folliculogenesis) is paused which results in menstrual bleeding delays and termination
-View of normal ovary on ultrasound scan.
GROUP-B
-Egg development (folliculogenesis) is paused which results in menstrual bleeding delays and termination
-Normoandrogenism and normal levels of male hormones (androgens) in blood,

GROUP-C
-Symptoms of hyperandrogenism (Excessive hair growth, Acne, Alopecia) and/or Increased male hormone (androgen) levels in blood,
-Egg development (folliculogenesis) is not paused or delayed which results in normal menstrual bleeding in each mont
-View of polycystic ovary on ultrasound scan.
Insulin/sugar metabolism may or may not be normal in all of the groups.
Women may or may not be obese in all of the groups.
